July 31st Photo - Our Neighbour the Genius!

When I arrived home today in what is an almost unbearable heat wave, temperatures reaching 34 degrees, I couldn't believe what my neighbour Dave had designed to help keep his friends and neighbours cool. You have to know this guy, he can build anything, I mean anything! Hubby brought home one of those large patio heaters from work that was going to be thrown out because it didn't work and we knew Dave could fix it. Of course he did and all for under $20! Today, he's hooked up his sprinkler system to the patio umbrella! lol It's hard to see the fine mist spraying from each of the points, but trust me, it is! Just look at the relief on Emily's face! lol Love ya Dave! You're the best!

I played around with my settings on my camera and captured some better shots of the fireworks last night. Thanks again Izzy for a lovely evening!

July 29th Photo & A Collage From Yesterday's Photo Field Trip

Everywhere I drive these days the roads seem to be under construction. Thank goodness I have air conditioning in my car otherwise I don't know if I could handle the delays in this heat!

Here's a collage I did of the ABCs we found in Granville Island yesterday. See July 28th post for more information. Can you spot all the letters?

July 28th Photo - Photography Field Trip

My friend Diane, her son and I spent the afternoon at Granville Island today taking photos. Diane found this fun little project in the recent issue of CK magazine. We're both making an 8x8 album titled The ABCs of Granville Island. The objective is to take a photo of signs beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Here's the three of us stopping to photograph ourselves in a storefront window. And to give you an idea of what our photos generally look like I'm including the letter B for Bar and W for Woofles and Meowz, a cute little pet shop in a train car. What a great day we had! I had so much fun! Perhaps I'll make a photo collage and share that with you this week. Stay tuned....

July 21st - Penguin Friend

Ok, so maybe I do have a psychological thing going on about trying to keep cool in this heat. Emily's new stuffy sits near by when I'm scrapbooking and reminds me to think like a penguin when I get too hot lol

July 20th Photo - My Starbucks Tumber Got a New Face Lift

I can't believe I've been using my Starbucks tumbler with a Winter digi layout well into July! Maybe psychologically it made me feel cooler? Today it fits in more with this sunny weather and is now filled with summertime photos.

July 19th Photo - Along the Water's Edge

Part of me thinks I would really enjoy living in a cute little house boat along the water and then I imagine what it might be like in the winter not having any green grass to run my bare feet through and I then think.....nope, I'm happiest most on the land, in land that is.

Mom came to see my new office yesterday and then I treated her to lunch at Milestones. I always have the same thing lol, Grilled Chicken Salad. They use fresh cilantro, slivers of red tortilla chips and a mild peanut dressing. It's soooo yummy!

July 17th - Pinky and Puddles

These adorable little kitties sat on the shelf at Clipper Street and I wanted to buy them so bad but the store owner wouldn't sell them to me lol. When the store closed in May, my friend Carrie remembered how much I liked them and picked them up for me. Isn't that sweet?! Thanks Carrie! Now they sit on my bookshelf in my studio. I love them!

July 16th Photo - A Drive in the Country

I had to stop along side the highway to photograph this beautiful field of flowers.

July 15th Photo - Water's Edge

July 14th Photo - My Essentals

I am loving my new daytimer. I know, it's an odd time of year to buy one but I was inspired by Izzy's cute lime green one that helps her stay so organized and so I went on a search for one today and found this one. I added a few rubons and I've already begun filling it up. I still couldn't live without my Treo smart phone. I love the alarm feature and it keeps all my contacts organized. There's something about a tangaable list though. It feels good to cross things off! lol

July 13th Photo - More Goodies!

My order from the Paper Passion arrived today. I got to use my gift certificate from the staff at my old job and let me tell ya, it felt like Christmas here today when I opened up the parcel!

July 12th Photo - A Weekend of Scrapbooking

These are the layouts I completed over the weekend participating in the Paper Passion's online crop. I loved all the challenges and ended up getting 7 layouts done in total.

A sure sign of summer!

July 10th Photo - Mr. Buggy

This colourful and unusual looking insect decided to come for a drive with us today. Emily noticed him hanging out just above the rear passenger window. Does anyone know what kind of bug he is?

June 8th - Fruits of the Season

Today we went berry picking with some friends at one of the local farms. We picked four kinds of berries. We all had a great time! Sure helps when you have many little hands helping. Tomorrow maybe we'll make some blueberry crumble....Mmmmmmm!
